Fashion Fails

JUST as a disclaimer: This is in my personal, unprofessional opinion. I am just here to provide a witty commentary to things that I do not like in fashion/trends nowadays....

1. Ed Hardy

When thinking of Ed Hardy, the first thing I think of is "douchebaggery"-see, Christian Audigier, your clothes even make David Beckham look like a toolbox. And in addition, the whole "Tattoo" effect only looks cool...as a tattoo...on the skin...permanent, you know?
Celebrifailures include: Jon Gosselin, Snooki, UFGs aka Unidentified Guidos...enough said...

2.Sperry's

Boat shoes should STAY on a boat. I can only imagine these on an unattractive yacht man, who is very metrosexual.
Celebrifailures: Although I have no proof of them wearing these horrific shoes, The "Sperry's" SCREAM Scott Disick (Kourtney K baby Daddy) or Simon van Kempen (Real Househusband of NYC) ;)

3. TOM's

Now before you get your panties in a twist, I am ALL for donating to charity. Do they give those kids in Africa TOM's shoes with each purchase? I'd rather donate other shoes. These SCREAM "I wrapped a piece of fabric around my foot because I lost my shoes." They look HORRIBLE (in my honest opinion...) I cannot get into these. They make feet look ugly...and they are a pretty (ugly) penny! The's uglies will cost you anywhere from 40 to 70 bucks.
Celebrifailures: Everyone and their grandma.

**UPDATE on TOM'S** I've been getting some anonymous drama criticizing what I said about TOMS. I have made it very clear that it is my opinion on this blog and open up at the end for other people's opinions. While my disdain for TOM'S may have been harsh, I do think that people should respect my opinion, as I respect people who DO like TOM'S. I support the idea of them, I am just not a fan of the look of them at all. THANKKKKKKKKS.

4. Nude Lips

Maybe I don't like this just because I can't pull it off, but this is reffering to LIGHT ASS nude lips, with a lot of gloss, or even what is referred to as "jizz lips"
I don't think ANYONE can pull of a shade of "nude" that is their own skin tone or lighter. I think nude lips should always be darker than the skin tone or at least look a tad bit cute. Think Kim Kardashian, not Snooki.
Celebrifailures: As mentioned above, Snooki, Snooki, and Snooki.

5. Scrunchies

I cringe just from looking at the picture ^....Satiny, Velvety, shimmery, frilly, girly, cartoon character-y, whatever. Scrunchies used to be in every style. The key word is USED to be. We learned how to make these babies in 8th grade sewing class. I hope nobody actually plans on using that "Talent" ever again.

6. SillyBandz

These are a new "Trend" I would say. I first discovered them from Youtube. They were supposed to be "Really awesome"- so I picked up 1 package for 2 bucks at CVS. I put one around my wrist and it snapped...geez...my wrist isn't THAT huge. When I found a large one to put on, I felt uncomfortable. Maybe it's the small amount of OCD in me that makes everything look straight. It just didn't look symmetrical on me, because...they're not supposed to. I instantly handed them over to my 10 year old sister, who was really excited to recieve them. My 14 year old sister soon became jealous and took one for herself. I just don't get it...

7. Thongs

I know, I know, this is probably a huge shocker. I can't stand thongs. I'd honestly rather go commando or wear spandex. They just remind me of trash...If I wanted a wedgie I would do it to my regular underwear. Butt. Floss.

8. "Kandi"

Ugh. Typical through the RAVE scene. I don't even know what to say. I guess this is why they need to drug themselves up. Or is this a result of the drugs? I have nothing to say. It just reminds me of being a child...?
Celebrifailures: Celebrities wouldn't be caught dead (or even alife) at a rave, so bravo.

A Dream Room

Spring Trends: White Ceramic Watches

Recently while watching YouTube Beauty "Guru" Lorraine Stanick, I have been paying much attention to her beautiful CHANEL Ceramic White Watch. I think a white watch looks classy, dressy, and hey, it tells you the time! ;)

Everday Makeup Look.

Here's my daily makeup when I'm not feeling creative.

Primer: Gotta Keep that CAKE FACE (not) ON!

Right now I use: Loreal Studio Secrets Primer

With NO 7 Boots Primer in my T zone (where I get oily)

Foundation: Time to cover the imperfections! (and I have A LOT!)

Currently Using MAC Studio Tech Foundation in NC15

It works pretty well. (not pictured in NC15)

Blush: Liven up those cheeks!
I like to use MAC's Style blush the most. It gives me a peachy glow and doesn't accentuate my redness or scarring as much as a pink toned blush would.

Setting Powder: Now let's set that foundation!
I use MAC's MSF Natural in Light.

I use Makeup Forever's HD setting powder in my T-Zone

Don't make it look cakey!

Eyeshadow Primer: Make that eyeshadow STICK.
I use Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion. I like it, It keeps it from creasing, but it makes eyeshadow a pain to blend.

Eyeshadow: I usually change up my eyeshadow from day to day, but for the days I'm running late and can't be creative, here's what I do to play up my brown eyes!

MAC Pigment-Shimmertime: You can't get this anymore... (ha ha? jk)
It's a beautiful shimmery light pink color.

MAC eyeshadows-Espresso/Carbon: I use these in the crease, mixed together to make a darker espresso color.

Mascara: Time to liven the lashes!
I am loving Smashbox Lash DNA from my lash stash. On a daily basis I switch it up though between the mascaras in there.

If I do my bottom lashes, I can't use the Lash DNA because the brush is too huge. I like using Urban Decay's Skyscraper mascara to pump up my bottom lashes.

Eyeliner(Optional): I don't often line my eyes with this look, but if I do it will be with Urban Decay 24/7 Eyeliner pencil in zero. I put it on my waterline and blend it down onto my lashline slightly. I only put it on the last half-ish of my waterline, not close to my tearduct because I have watery Eyes.

Lips: Pretty in pink lips to look kissable!
Chapstick- any type is good.

Lip Liner- I use the clear Maybelline one :) It's alright!

Lipstick- Now I often use VIVA GLAM GAGA by MAC. I can do one coat for a very natural look, or liven it up with multiple coats for that bubblegum barbie pink lip!

FIDM Debut Show

This week I had the privilege of attending FIDM's Annual Debut Fashion Show where they show off the work of their students! Although my major is obviously not represented (beauty), I had a blast! I went with my mom and my friend. But also ran into a few classmates.

They had a display with a few dresses. This one was my favorite.

At the Pre-Show party, they had these amazing red velvet cupcakes. I wonder who they were by....? Recipe Please!

The show's "Host" Was Nick Verreos- you may recognize him from Project Runway!-Here is some of his upcoming collection he previewed at the debut!

This was a designer named Sam Klemick. I liked her style so I took the picture, and then ended up loving her collection.

I didn't dare try and put captions on each picture. But, I'll just annotate here.
The designer with the army of kids behind her is Meghann Alaina Fanara- She did a kids line-the only kids line, super unique!
The designer I mentioned previously-Sam Klemick- her line was the one with the bows and unicorn horns. Pink, White, Chartreuse, and Navy. I'm in love.
Every designer was really good and it was awesome to see what talent comes from FIDM.
I noticed one of the models is Brandise who is a model on this seasons Project Runway! :)
Last picture is me and Nick Verreos from project runway-FIDM Instructor, and FIDM Debut 2010 host. He was amazingly sweet!

Things I want for college

Now that I am accepted to college- FIDM- I want to get a few things before I start!

1. A new laptop- I really am in the mood to get a Macbook/Macbook Pro/Macbook Air and then use boot camp to have windows on it. Let me know your input on the laptops so help me decide!

2. A handbag- I want a designer handbag just because, maybe for grad gift or something. I really like the Louis Vuitton Speedy but I doubt I'll get that- I'll probably end up with coach.

3. Magazine Rack- By college time- I'm gonna be subscribing to all the hot fashion mags that i'm not subscribed to so I can be more educated on the topic....hahah. I'd like a magazine rack that I can see all of my magazines, instead of throwing them in a bin.

4. Shoe Rack- I just throw my shoes in a bin, and by the time school comes around I'll be changing my shoes more often, so having them visible would be nice!

5. Prismacolor Markers- I'm sure since I'll have so many projects- I will need to make some sketches. To make them more professional I could get these for the artist reputation!

6. Canon Vixia Camera- I want to have a higher quality camera because mine is getting really outdated! In college I may need to film things, or do projects to make ads or something. It will also make my youtube videos better!

Hot Miami Styles is becoming kind of big on youtube. So, I decided to check it out. A lot of their clothes are pretty trashy, tight fitting on their skinny, big chested "models." However, I've found a few cute things that I'd purchase if I had money.

Pink Gray Bandage Knit Zipper Dress
This dress is very similar to one Victoria Beckham wore. It's pretty short though :/

Black Leopard Ruffle Tier Dress
This dress is cute.

I like the zipper detail on this dress. The back is also inriguing.

Fashionable Cupcakes

Mint green is a very IN color. I made these cupcakes and thought I would share, bakerella style!

What you need:
White Cake Mix
Frosting
Food Coloring
3 Bowls
2 spoons
Pastry Bag
Optional: Cupcake liners

Mix the cake batter and then divide it in 2.
Dye 1 part of the batter with 2 drops of green and 2 drops of blue and mix.
Pour White cake mix in cake pan/cupcake pan about half way, and then fill the green up to about 3/4 of the way.
Bake Cake mix, while baking separate frosting in half and dye one part with 2 drops green and 2 drops blue and mix.
Get a plastic pastry bag and fill one side (vertically) with the white frosting, and 1 side with the green frosting. seal and refrigerate.
After cupcakes have cooled, remove icing from refrigerator and cut off tip.
I made a zigzag pattern as I cut it so it had a star-like effect.
Pipe the icing in any way you like on top of the cupcakes.

Looking Back on 2009: Forecast for 2010

Here is what I remember from 2009:
January: Was fairly new to the YouTube scene, had no friends, but won my first contest! For school, I did pretty okay on my finals. But I got one C. (79.75 should be a B I TELL YOU!)

February: Started to make some friends on YouTube, my videos were still really crappy. However, I probably won a few contests.

March: I have pretty much no recollection of March at all. I started my first YouTube Contest, So then I had 200 Subscribers.

April: Contest ended, I think I became a lot better at makeup at that point. I also went to Bamboozle!

May: I don't remember much from May either. I placed in a contest, and I pumped out a lot of videos. I won another contest and I uploaded a video that petrilude and sayanythingbrooke commented on. HA!

June: Finished Junior Year with pretty dang good grades (for me at least!) I also went to IMATS and became 10x more inspired with makeup. I also started getting people sending me free makeup, which is quite interesting. And, people from school found out about my channel. I went to Vans Warped Tour twice and had a lot of fun! I snuck my camera into one!

July: I got sponsored by Glamour Doll Eyes then I believe, took my senior portrait, and got my GHD Flat Iron. I also found out I was moving, although that never panned out.

August: I went to warped tour 2 more times, and I turned 17!

September: Started my Senior Year. I broke up with my group of friends that I'd been with since freshman year and switched groups entirely. Began a fashion club with some classmates, where I am the VP. I also got pretty sick and it was probably the swine flu, but I never went to the doctors for it. This was the last month I was uploading at least a video a week. Tried out for the Rose Court. I didn't get past the first try out, but it really helped me with my self esteem!

October: I rarely made videos. I went to the rose court ball and HATED it. I went to be a cabin leader at my elementary schools Outdoor Science School in Malibu,CA. I got to wrangle 9 5th grade boys for 5 days! My grades also got pretty low because of all the missing work.

November: Worked my butt off grade wise and improved my grades a lot. I got pretty stressed out from all the work. My mom went to the Hospital.

December: I found the college I want to attend: FIDM. I began the application process and got to see the school so I knew it was perfect for me! I also saw Lady Gaga LIVE and was quite amazed... A classmate of mine passed away.

Overall 2009 was simply mediocre for me. Here's my 2010 hopeful forecast!

January: Finish my FIDM application and get ACCEPTED. Do really well on my finals so I can pass with ALL A's and B's. Getting my first debit card in the mail.. HA!

February: Drop all of the classes I don't need for graduation so I can stress out far less. Strive to get ALL A'S! Try to start driver's ed! Try to finish my job shadowing for my English classes senior research project.

March: Finish some Scholarship stuff and get some financial aid lined up for college hopefully!

April: Try to have my driving permit! Yeah, I haven't gotten it yet.... Finish the Senior Research Project!

May: Try really hard to get my grades as high as they can possibly go!

June: Ace all my finals and GRADUATE high school! Have a graduation party :) And I want to go to IMATS!

July: Visit the east coast to see family and maybe a few friends!

August: Have my license and turn 18!

September: Start preparing for College. FIDM Hopefully!

October: Start school at FIDM if I get accepted, and study really hard! Hopefully I can get a job and start making money!

November: Keep on studying really hard!

December: Try to get all A's at college and have a great holiday.

Lady Gaga is wearing Gianni Versace 676 vintage sunglasses. I’m sure you can find them on eBay for a hefty price, or check out these cheap alternatives! Iced Out Gear and Coolio High have affordable replicas of the sunglasses Lady Gaga Wears in "Just Dance".Personally, I think the ones from coolio high are great! They look just like them!

Lady Gaga is wearing Sunglasses by Linda Farrow and Jeremy Scott. I haven’t found a source to buy the exact pair online, but the following websites have convincing and inexpensive pairs! Giant Vintage have very similar pairs, I would consider them the most similar to the real pair. And, Coolio High has similar shades in several colors!

Lady Gaga is wearing Sunglasses-hmm, would these even be called sunglasses?- by Hussein Chalayan for Spring 2009. I apologize, I do not know where you can purchase these, but I haven’t found any replicas.

I wanted to start this blog to post about something I like, fashion. I do not know everything about fashion, but I am trying to learn. I want to show items I think are really awesome and hopefully attract a following that will comment. I will involve my "followers"-whoever reads this blog in the future- by asking questions, letting everyone voice their opinion on trends.

My only concern with this is that I will not be able to keep it up. School, le sigh.
